It was Aryans who invaded. Arab traders brought Islam to India

The RSS Supremo Mohan Bhagwat should have taken a look at his mirror image and inquired deep into his ‘Aryan’ lineage before branding Islam as invaders. A question many like him conveniently skip is, how did Vedic Brahmanism, the mother of all present-day Hindutva evils, which propagates caste and religious hatred come to the Indian subcontinent in the first place?

Historical facts and recent genetic studies uphold that a race of European/Central Asian ‘Aryan Invaders’ swept into the Indian subcontinent displacing the indigenous Indus Valley Civilisation. This Aryan invasion destroyed the native ancient traditions, worship places, rituals, languages, and even their agrarian means of livelihood.

Thanks to the Arab trade links, Islam came to South India in the 7th century AD, long before the advent of any Muslim rule in the northern parts of the Indian subcontinent. Similarly, Islam got introduced to the north-eastern parts of the Indian subcontinent too as a result of this extensive maritime trade of the Arabs between the western European nations and the Eastern Asian countries. For Arabs, the Bengal coastal regions were a transition zone between the trade of west and the far east of China. So there too Islam came through trade and all these happened before any of those supposed “Muslim invaders” Bhagwat was referring to were even born.

So Bhagwat’s ancestors are Aryans who invaded and ruined the Indians sub-continent with the oppressive and exploitative Varna-caste system, that too long before any hints of a Muslim rule here. It was the message of justice, love and peace that attracted the native Indians to Islam. They embraced Islam at their will as it liberated them from the shackles of this caste oppression.

If Mr Bhagwat is sincere about tracing the lineage of the present-day fundamentalists and hardliners in India to the yesteryear invaders, he should be looking inward to his own organisation – the RSS and other umbrella Hindutva outfits associated with it. They are the ones still keen on maintaining the Aryan supremacy in India through its centuries-old virulent caste system and hatred against all other diverse identities.
