The recent comment of the Delhi High Court is satisfactory that protesting against a decision of Parliament is not terrorism nor are the foundations of our country so weak that student protests will weaken the country’s democracy or threaten peace and security. Will pose
The biggest question is why the attitude of the police and the government is not changing despite the constant decisions of the judiciary and such comments. Why the government always declares the protest against it as treason and the protesters are prosecuted under a serious section like UAPA. These views were expressed by Dr Muhammad Manzoor Alam, General Secretary, All India Milli Council.
The Delhi High Court released on bail three of the people arrested under the UAPA on charges of rioting in Delhi and on the occasion the court commented that protesting, blocking roads, making speeches is not proof that These are the people who caused the riots in Delhi and this is not terrorism. In the same way, if every case is linked to terrorism, then the abomination of a serious crime like terrorism will be reduced.
Dr Muhammad Manzoor Alam said that the decision and comment of the judiciary has further strengthened the confidence of the people but at the same time action must be taken against the police officers so that not every case is linked to terrorism nor protest The judiciary hopes that a similar verdict will be pronounced on other people and the release of the rest will come soon.
